I try to develop an Notification Delivery Channel to create Event Frames?
Has someone already done this ?
Ideas, Pitfalls,... ?
Wolfgang, I saw the word "Ideas" in your post, so...
Would be nice if a Notification was actually an event frame itself. When you create a new PI Notification the master/base/root Event Frame is created, which represents the life of that Notification. Only when that Notification is deleted is the Event Frame given an End Time. During the life cycle of the Notification you generate child event frames depending on when conditions have been met, how long they were active for, how long escalations lasted, ...
I often thought that it would be great to have Notifications monitor the status of interfaces, send out a notification when an interface is behaving badly and create an EF to mark those time periods. You could then use the EFs as a data quality reference for calculations or other applications consuming the data from that interface.
I guess a pitfall is going to be a method to manage any orphaned Event Frames from a Notification, i.e. someone deletes the Notification that is using your EF delivery channel but doesn't delete the EFs that it has generated (which is contrary to my first paragraph). EFs and Notifications are fairly disconnected right now.
Be good to see what you come up with - or even contribute via a community project??
