Re: Installing PI System Directory causes lost connection

Hi Keith,
Sorry for your difficulties, however I do not believe your troubles stem from an installation of the PI System Directory. Architecturally, the PI System Directory server component is a plugin to the Web API, which means in essence it is a simple client to AF. What might be more plausible is that some configuration was overridden when you ran the integrated installer. If you want to investigate further I would recommend you contact support so someone can take a more in-depth look.

2 of 2 people found this helpfulHi Keith,
If you uncheck an already installed component in the AF Services install kit, that will uninstall that component. The GUI does show this, but you have to know where to look.
I hope that this didn't cause too much trouble for you! To remedy, you just need to re-install and check the components you need installed.

Re: Installing PI System Directory causes lost connection
ksward Feb 6, 2018 6:33 PM (in response to kfong)Correct, my point is that I was installing PI System Directory after the fact, I started the installer assuming that I only wanted the targeted product installed on the existing system and not have to go through the reconfiguration steps for the rest of the system. Not a good way to start the day. The documentation and the installer does not warn you of those consequences.

ksward Feb 6, 2018 6:35 PM (in response to ksward)I use the unselect all, then selected PI System Directory, didn't see the notice that the unselected products will be de-installed
