The DisplayDigits attribute of a PI Point controls the format of numeric values on screens and in reports.
Unfortunately, there is no direct way to change the display digits of an AF attribute. However, this enhancement request has been submitted and planned is to be implemented in 2018.

In Excel, Excel controls the number of digits shown. I'm not an expert in DataLink (almost never use that), but i think DL just retrieves the raw values ignoring the decimaldigits. And from there Excel controls the display.
Wrt. floating point numbers, you should be aware that Excel can display more digits than are available in PI: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/blog/2008/04/10/understanding-floating-point-precision-aka-why-does-excel-…
For Pi System Explorer, the same is true. PSE is not a client tool and it will (and should) ignore the display digits setting. It should be honored in visualization tools like PI Vision.
