Is there a way to make a bi-directional connection between PI Systems.
I've tried with a PI to PI interface bt it seems to have only one direction.
Could you please let us know your exact requirement. If you are looking for bidirectional then PICloudConnect (Publish and Subscribe) is one option but more information will help us understand your issue.
There is no concept of bi-directional PI-to-PI. I have concerns about the architecture you are trying to build so understanding what you are trying to accomplish is important.
I have a PI Data Archive Server (PISRV01) and a PI to PI interface (Inside an API Node) sending it's data to another PI Data Archive Server(PISRV02).
Recently I found that was needing to send some information from PISRV02 to PISRV01.
So I thought I'd use the same interface to accomplish that.
I understand now that It's not possible that way and will try to explore other options (like PICloudConnect or another interface in the other direction).
Thank you very much.
Whilst a single instance of the PItoPI interface can only send data in one direction, you could always install a second instance of the PItoPI interface on the same interface machine to send data in the other direction. This may be a solution for you, though PI Cloud Connect may also be worth considering as well.
I do not see why you would want to use PI Cloud Connect over PI to PI. You can simply create a new PI to PI instance.
PI01 ---- PI2PI instance 1 ----> PI02
PI02 ---- PI2PI instance 2 ----> PI01
where both PI2PI instances can reside on the same machine.
What would be the advantages of using 2 instances of PI to PI instead of using pi cloud connect?
PI to PI interface is mainly between source and destination PI Server. If your PI servers are within same organisation and network then would suggest PI to PI interface. PI cloud connect is used to send data between PI systems which are outside organisation network and it is capable of sending AF data(metadata). AF is pre-requisite for PI Cloud connect configuration.
