Not being familiar with the Sandvik Optimine system, I decided I would ask here if anyone had done this before. I'm hoping I can make use of existing PI interfaces to accomplish this.
Don't have any specific experience with this system, but based on what I've seen from similar products it probably has some kind of SQL backend that you could interface to using a couple of different options.
Could you please let us know if any API available to connect to Sandvik Optimine system? PI offers lot of development options interms of interfacing.
As @John Messinger mentioned if you are having backend database then you can use PI RDBMS interface. If you are having API then you can try using PI Web API to get and post data. If you are planning to export data to flat files then PI UFL interface is another option.
Request you to check below link for options available.
Thanks guys. I suspect you're right and they have at least a SQL backend so I can make use of the RDBMS interface. My biggest hope was that they'd have an OPC Server as part of the product and then I could use the OPC DA interface. Anyway, as I say I thought I'd ask here to get some ideas. I'm actually talking with the client's technical folks tomorrow to find out more. If they can't give me the answers I need, the next step is to talk to the vendor's technical folks.
I was trying to navigate their website but they provide very little technical information. Hopefully their tech guys can clear that up!
I did the same thing and found mostly sales propaganda and very little technical info.
I did an integration last year for what appears to be a similar product - JMineops. Same kind of deal, mostly sales propaganda on the website, very little (read, none) technical information publicly available. Talking to the technical folks was the key, as that's when I found it was a SQL Server backend. From there it was a straightforward RDBMS interface integration exercise.
Given the type of data these systems store, a SQL backend of some flavour is almost certain. An OPC server on top - maybe. Sandvik is a big enough company that they might have built an OPC server to publish their data, but honestly I would be surprised. These type of systems are very proprietary, and publishing their data via OPC is less likely, as they usually want you to use it only within their own product ecosystem.
Good luck with your integration!
