We need to bother only when you downgrade an archive. Please refer below link which helps you to understand more.

Thank you for posting on PI Square. Mallesh's answer is correct, the only direction you need to worry about archive compatibility is when going from a newer version of PI Data Archive to an older version. If that was the case then using pidiag -adg <version> <archive path> would be used to downgrade the archive file to the appropriate version.
