I would like to create or be able to modify existing calculations without the help of the wizard using visual studio version 2013 or higher.
Could you please let us know if it is related to ACE calculation. If you using AF analysis then you can use PI System explorer to define your own calculations and PI AF Builder to create/modify calculations.
Can you explain your use case a bit more? We would prefer you to carry out your analysis using AF Asset Analytics instead of ACE. Are there any pressing reasons that you are still using ACE?
Hello Eugene. Thanks for your help.
The client has a lot of calculations already created with ACE, he would have to support it. although for new calculations we could try to work with AF Asset Analytics, (please can you recommend me some reading to start with this technology), but as I would do to support the old calculations.
Again thank you very much for your help

Visual Studio 2013 supports the ACE wizard. So you can continue to use it for your calculations. Visual Studio 2015 and above are not supported.
KB00740 - PI ACE support for Visual Studio
Take note that AF SDK is now our preferred data access product. It has better performance and more options than PI SDK. PI ACE uses PI SDK under the hood while PI Asset Based Analytics utilizes PI AF SDK internally.
ACE wizard and visual studio 2015
Perhaps it is a good time to start the migration process for your client from ACE to Asset Analytics.
To answer your question on how to get started with Asset Analytics, I recommend you to follow the exercises of the Configuring Analytics with PI AF online course.
