PI-AF Analytics DigState Ordinal Value to State Name?

The old PI-API had a way to resolve a digital state ordinal value to the state name string. Conversely, there was a way to convert the state name to its ordinal position in the state set. Is there a way to do the same thing in PI-AF analytics? From what I have been able to tell based on the documentation, it seems that the best you can do is provide the state name string to the DigState() function and it will return the digital state value. DigText() seems to maybe have some usefulness, but the documentation and examples are unclear as to whether or how I could use it.

In my case, I'm working with a cumbersome digital state set and it would be easier to work with the ordinal position values rather than the state name strings themselves. Are there any tricks I can deploy here?
