    tags fixed value

    SergioLeon

      good day,

I have a problem with the value tags, when the signal is lost, the tags remain in the last value received and they do not record the loss of data, so the BUFFER does not act,

What should I do to correct this?

          Hi Sergio

Could you please let us know the interface and source system you are collecting data from? When the source system/interface is up, could you please clarify if tags receiving updates or not?

          Thanks,

          Lal

              Hi,

leaving aside the buffer, when the data source is inactive or inoperative and the tags do not receive updates, this keeps the last value entered

              for example:

              The latest updated value is:

              Date: 06/12/2018 01:00:00 - Value: 100
              it is consulted

              Date: 06/12/2018 02:00:00

the value 100 is obtained; but the last value updated by the source was 06/12/2018 01:00:00

I need you to only show actual values in the hours updated by the data source

              Any recommendation?

Can you clarify what you mean by the BUFFER does not act?

                      Hi Sergio

If data source is offline then no updates will be send to to PI Data Archive and it is expected behaviour. But if you are looking to update the tag value when tag is not updated from source then you can use PE or AF Analysis to check the last updated i.e. Use Secsincechange() and HasChanged() periodically and update the tag using PrevVal(‘TagName’, ‘*’) which get last updated value in the archive.

                      Additional reference : PI Server

                      Thanks

                      Lal

                        Hello Sergio,

PI Interfaces offer the option to create Health Points, Performance Points, IO Rate Points or Interface Status tags. When configuring a PI Interface using PI Interface Configuration Utility, you should find correspondent Categories. Not all these options might be available with each interface but on the other hand, not all of those are required for monitoring. If Interface Health is available, this should be your first choice.

The PI Interface for Performance Monitor can be used to collect Windows Performance Counter information and to write those to PI Points. If a Windows process exposes performance counters, those usually can be used for monitoring. Otherwise you could collect information for % Processor Time, Private Bytes usage and Elapsed time for any Windows process in memory and use these information to asses the process health. This is pretty useful and highly recommended for every process you consider critical in your IT infrastructure.

PI Server add-on's like PI Notifications can be used to trigger a notification emails in case of certain conditions indicating a problem with the data source.

To get you started on the subject, I suggest to watch this video at OSIsoft's Learning Channel at Youtube.
