Maximum SQL Password Length for AF Table Connections?

We are trying to set up a table connection in PI AF but we're running into a weird error. "Unable to link to external table: Bad Length."

We are using a SQL login and supplying the user name and password. When we built the table connection, click "Allow Saving Password" and click "Test Connection", it is OK and we can select the database we want. Once we click OK and go back into defining the connection and test the connection, it fails with a bad password.

We tried selecting Supply Password under the Security section after building the connection string, but when we enter the password and try to check it in, we get the message "Unable to link to external table: Bad Length". The password is 20 characters long.

The kicker is that if we enter a shorter password, we do not get that message. It's the wrong password, so it doesn't connect.

Is there a maximum SQL password length for AF table connections?

We also tried directly defining the connection in the table. Here's a screen shot of that effort with the same results - selectively blurred to hide client details.

Thanks for your help!
