Sometimes when I open the PI System Explorer, This Retrieving the data take sometime, few seconds or more, this is normal? if it's, when this can be consider as slowness?
This is usually caused be using Linked Tables, with large result sets. PSE won't show any data, until until all the references are resolved. Either create a view to limit the rows returned, or use parameter passing to limit the query to the context of the Element you are viewing.
Thanks for the answer, We found the problem, we used to have a table that updated the values every day, e now we use to catch just the last value, so now the PI AF is more faster than before
Agree with Scott on table references in AF causing performance issue. Check for AF attribute table lookup query and make it more dynamic by applying parameters to your query.
e.g. SELECT Rate FROM Table; @id=@AssetId;
Time Context :
@STARTTIME=%STARTTIME:dd-MMM-yyyy HH:mm:ss%;@ENDTIME=%ENDTIME:dd-MMM-yyyy HH:mm:ss%

Hi Lal Babu
Thanks for the answer, we already use the time context at some table lookup, We found the problem, we used to have a table that updated the values every day, e now we use to catch just the last value, so now the PI AF is more faster than before
The slowness is the result of an expensive data reference or more on that attributes pane. As the others suggested, typically this is a table lookup data reference. That being said it could also be formula, analysis, string builder data reference or even a custom data reference.
If the issue here isn't a large table, then as a suggestion, copy the element and start removing attributes with data references that appear to be expensive and refresh every time. This should help you narrow down what is causing the slowness.
Thanks for the answer Sebastien
