When I try to view the email by logging in as bsmith/ student, outlook is not configured and then I am unable to log back in as adminstrator becuase I don't know the password. (Step E 5).
You can find the credentials for the Virtual Learning Environment in the learning site faq page, learning.osisoft.com/FAQ.aspx. You are logged in as the administrator and outlook is configured for the administrator, you should be able to test your notifications with this account.
After 1 hour of inactivity, I lose everything that I did and I have a meeting in 15 minutes so I would really like to get this done so I don’t have to start over. I don’t see anything on the link you sent for admin password for the virtual server and the instruction say that I should login as bsmith. I looked in the admin email and saw nothing. Can you please provide me with more direct answers? I tried the resources that you mentioned, but was still unable to resolve the issue.
Let me look into it, but it will take me more than 15 min. While the environment resets after inactivity and you cannot save your work, you can always export what you have done, AF databases, VS projects, etc. To export an AF database, export the XML file from PI System explorer and send it to yourself as an attachment via web mail. You can also use ftp or another cloud storage service. You can later start another session and import your work.
I looked into the user bsmith and while he is configured with and email account, outlook asks for the configuration information, because it is a new account and first time using outlook. I will update the environment so that it does not request configuration information anymore. Meanwhile, to login as bsmith, follow the configuration promptings, using firstname.lastname@example.org as the email and student as the password and click next until done, it will configured the account uncrypted, but it will work.
Then how do I log in (Switch User) back in as admin?
The credentials are administrator, 0S1s0ft. You can find the credentials and other useful information for the Virtual Learning Environment in the learning site faq page, learning.osisoft.com/FAQ.aspx.
Perfect...that works. Thanks Pablo.
