Yes, but it will take some work.
Using PI Builder, import the elements and attributes.
Then, copy the list of tags from the attributes to a new tab and paste them in - ensure you do NOT change the order.
Using PI Datalink, get the description of the PI tag or import the tags using PI Builder.
Then copy/paste the description back into the Element sheet using paste-special-values.
Export back to AF.
Thanks for the answer!
That´s a good manual way to bring the description from the PI-Point into the description of the attribute.
What I wanted, was an automatic way, because most of the descriptions of my PI-Points are really good and don´t need to be changed, can be used in the attribute as they are.
It would be nice if Osisoft could implement substitution parameters for descriptions of attributes, so that you just substitute the description with the description of the PI-Point.
(Configuration should already be possible in the template)
Another way is mentioned here:
But I would not take such approach for large number of points due to massive overhead.
There is no out of the box solution for this. We have this enhancement on our feedback web site that would fit this use case:
I'd recommend up voting it !
You could easily solve this problem using the AF SDK if you are familiar with it:
