I'm working on cleaning up our exception/compression settings for our data archive. I have seen the recommendation to target a minimum 10:1 ratio of snapshot data to archived events. Currently mine is roughly 3:1. And from a high level evaluation, the compression settings are not consistently administered across our database: some tags with very little compression, others with perhaps a bit too much.
What is the most effective way to evaluate compression rate on individual tags? It seems apparent that I have several tags that would benefit from increased compression, but I would also be interested in finding any tags that could afford to archive a bit more data.
