Asking for a best simulator testing for PI Connector/Interface for IEC 61850. Can you site a free simulator testing?
The only reliable free simulator for IEC61850 is very limited - TMW Demo Server - and only contains a handful of data items that cannot be modified / configured.
If you want to simulate realistic conditions, I have personally had great experience with the Distributed Test Manager provided by TMW. It allows for a good amount of customization and pushing data changes.
Description from their website:
Simulate communications for all or a portion of the IEDs in a substation and create automated tests to confirm individual device behavior.
Thanks! Also this simulator have also the Goose Messaging? and also if I could request installer from you of the PI Connector of IEC?
Yes it does. If you want to test the connector, please contact the Account Manager for whatever site this would be. They will be able to point you in the right direction.
May i ask for help. Already downloaded triangleworks the start the example servers
For the Report Configuration, i dont know if im right but i just copy paste what i see in the message log then check the enable ACSE security and have password filled up.
Currently installed the PI Connector IEC, PI Connector Relay and PI Data collection Manager but when it comes to the DA and AF theres no created tags and asset structure when started
Thanks in advance,
Yeah, thats the basic simulator you can use. In the report configuration, you separated the report name with a comma (,), but you want to separate them only with a space
Thanks for the reply, i again open a new discussion about this anyways
for that i already remove the comma, but still not creating in DA and AF
Message logs is:
I dont know what seems the meaning of this since i cant search about related on this.
what do i miss in the configurations?
Did you set a password on the simulator? I haven't used it in a minute, but when I did, it definitely didn't require ACSE security. Also, I would restart the connector service once you've have made those changes, you should see the attempt at subscribing to the report (rbc_enable)
I dont set any password on the simulator, upon installation i know it doesnt required to fill up username and password, already uncheck ACSE and restart all services of PI Connector.
But still not reflecting in DA and AF
there is no rbc_enable in the message logs
Still having problem auto creating DA tags and AF hiearachy,
Already uninstall and installed the Simulator Trianglework it doesnt give me any username and password upon installation.
Then, you should review the logs on the connector node. Here is my config:
DCM / Data Source Configuration
Logs on startup for the connector:
Initially, you should see
<Data Source Name> attempting connection and reports verification.
Then, many "Creating Node:" as it loads up the report files
After the connector subscribe to the report and create the nodes, you should see your AF Structure update
Thanks for this ill check on this.
Another question, we'll just picking tags from the source server is there a way to filter the tags that were pick and be created to DA?
In general, yes you would define what tags you want by configuring the report on the IEC61850 server. In this case, since you are using the simulator, you don't have control over the reports created, so it will create every supported item in the dataset used by the reports.
Already check again the test simulator, but seems the message logs says:
Already reinstall all the PI Connector IEC, Data Relay and Data Collector. Still my problem still occurs.
i dont have any username and password filled up in the Test simulator. Firewalls are all turned off.
can you restart the 61850 connector windows service. It should force a new discovery
Already restarted the 61850 connector, seems to be creating nodes,
This my screenshots:
But when checking the DA and AF no created.
My current versions of the connector, relay and data collection
You may want to open a Tech Support case so someone can run through this with you over a remote session. Since you see the 'Creating Node' messages, it would indicate that the problem is downstream. Maybe the account running the PI Connector Relay does not have access to create assets / pi points on the PI Server?
At a minimum, you should see a root asset in '\\AFServerName\Database1\Elements\IEC61850'
