I have a problem displaying a substituted value in PI Vision
I want a step plot, but PI Vision shows a interpolated plot.
Have you verified that the step attribute actually is set on the PI tags?
Does it work if you pull the trends directly from the PI tags in Vision?
Yes, step is set on the source attribute!
I even tried to add ;step=1 on the subattribute that uses value retrieval!

But have you opened PI SMT and double-checked that the step attribute is actually applied to the tag?
If the tags was already created when you added the step=1 in PI System Explorer, it doesn't add the step attribute to the tag. In order to do that you will need to right-click the attribute and do a "Create or Update PI Point".
To echo Asle's advice, if an AFAttribute is based on a PI Point, the attribute's Step setting is ignored and the PI Point's Step setting takes precedence.
The problem still are there, even after I created and updated the attributes!

How about if you right-click the attribute in PI System Explorer and either look at the trend or the time series data? Does it look stepped there?
I would probably try to create a copy of the analysis output attribute and see if that would be stepped. Often I find myself deleting and recreating stuff that seems correctly configured, and it solves any problem that was present.
I agree with Asle, I would first confirm that the step behavior works in PI System Explorer and the issue isn't a caching one on the PI Vision web server.
