I would like to ask you how is called syntax which is used in GetPoints2 method when I choose callType = useGetPoints? Is it PE Syntax?
The syntax for using the GetPoints2 method with useGetPoints call type is the same as using GetPoints directly. You can find the reference on the syntax from the PI SDK Programming Reference in a section called GetPoints Syntax. You should be able to find the reference from ...\PIPC\HELP\pisdk.chm if you have PI SDK installed on the machine, or you can download it from the Library section
Thanks Han. I know about that. I only need to know how is this syntax called. I need to describe this method to one of my colleague and I would like to say something like: "useGetPointsSQL uses SQL syntax and useGetPoints use ... syntax". Is it your SQL - like syntax ? PE syntax is something different?
Sorry for misunderstanding.
I see. Well the syntax that is used in GetPoints query is not PE syntax, the query is a boolean expression that defines the desired query, the syntax is SQL-like without advanced features and with important differences
that make GetPoints statements incompatible with true SQL. The reference that I mentioned give more details on the differences.
Thank you. So, I would say that it is your syntax which should be simpler alternative for SQL syntax, ok?
