Is it better and recommended using Shared-File Synchronization than using Data-Source Synchronization for OPC Interface Failover configuration?
What happens in case shared file is unreachable by PI both OPC interfaces?
The interface failover phase 2 (which uses a shared file for sync) has more features than interface failover phase 1 (such as hot failover, for example), so I would use UFO Phase 2. Also, in the field sometimes it is not so easy to configure a tag in the PLC, so having this independency from the data source makes the process much easier.
Regarding your second question, in case the interfaces cannot access the shared file, they will see each other through regular PI tags (i.e, they will keep their sync through the PI Server).
Thank you Fabiano!
