Hello,I'm using PI SMT 2017 and I'm trying to configure on PI SMT CompMax to 1 day and i get the following error
is anybody know what could be the problem?
Could you please check the error logs in SMT during update. If point is configured as analysis then request you check the client logs during the update. If feasible, please share the error logs.
Hi, thanks for your replythe message log show the next error:
(the PI point is not an analysis)
As Lal Babu Shaik said, verifying in the message logs the exact error will be key. The messages you posted do not relate to the point edit. Are there other messages around the time of the point edit that you did not capture in your screenshot?
That said, the issue you are describing is somewhat common, as the compression max point attribute is internally stored in units of seconds. Additionally, in older versions of the PI Data Archive, the compmax attribute was stored as a uint16 type, meaning that a compmax of 1 day does not fit within the space allotted. In modern versions of the PI Data Archive, the type of the compmax attribute was changed to uint32 to allow larger values, however, this was not applied to upgrades.
If your Data Archive was originally a very old version but has since been upgraded, it will still use the old uint16 attribute definition. You can determine this by running the following commands:
From the PI\adm directory, run:
This will output the attribute definitions for the PIPoint table. You will need to check and see if compax is defined as uint16 or uint32. Note that in the output below, it is set as uint32:
If you find that on your PI Data Archive, compmax is defined as uint16, then in order to set compmax to 1 day (86400 seconds), the point type of the compmax attribute would need to be edited. This is an involved process and you should contact technical support for assistance doing so. To help expedite the process, you can ensure you have up to date and valid backups of the PI Data Archive.
This is the only messages I've get..
thanks for helping, you'r right.. I found that my PI Data Archive, compmax is defined as uint16.I will contact the technical support for further assitance.
