Is that possible to use PI Vision as integrated virtualization platform to visualize data in other database (MS sql, MySQL), data warehouse and data lake?
If possible, how? Any documents that could be used for guide?
Before going the custom symbol route, I would suggest looking at AF Tables.
These allow you to pull in data from OLEDB data sources in a number of different ways, then to create Table Lookup Data Reference attributes that pull data from these AF Tables. Then these attributes can be pulled into any PI System client natively. The AF table's connection and refresh options are also pretty configurable.
The data flow in this case would be for Vision to access AF, which in turn accesses the remote data source, as opposed to Vision accessing the data source directly, but the deployment, portability, and manageability of this route is far higher than writing (and then supporting) your own custom symbol.
There is no direct integration between PI Vision and RDBMS data sources available. If you are having data in RDBMS database then you can use PI RDBMS interfaces to collect data from RDBMS data and use PI Data Archive to store the data first and contextualize/visualize accordingly. If you are looking for direct connectivity then would suggest building custom symbol accordingly.
PI Vision also supports extensibility - PI Vision Extensibility
Thanks for your suggestion! I would explore how to building custom symbol.
I took a briefly look at it, found that it might be much more straight forward! I will try this! Thanks for your suggestion!
