No details, just the message after I click Launch:
I hope you are well!
I cannot seem to find any VMs under your name in all of our class offerings. Would it be possible you have deleted the VMs in an attempt to recreate new ones?
Hi Georges – probably not, this is the first time I’ve tried. I read all the stuff and watched the instructional video and then clicked on Launch. Oooopsss…
Hi again Georges,
I’m starting over and have begun the deployment process again. I’m assuming whatever I need will be there when it’s done. If that doesn’t happen and I’m again unable to connect, I guess I have to call support.
Thanks for checking in!
Please let me know once you have finished deploying the new VMs for Configuring Analytics with PI AF class and that you cannot access your VMs.
I will make sure you will be able to login!
Hi Georges – can you tell me if I’m supposed to click on the Launch on the Subscriptions page at first? This isn’t what the instructions say, but I’m finding there are minor differences between the instructions and what I actually see. There’s a Launch button on both the Subscriptions and Sessions tabs, so not sure what I follow.
Does that work?
OK – I got there, selected my time zone and clicked the Launch on the Subscriptions tab (I’ve actually done that a few times today) but after a couple of minutes, this is what I’m getting (this class hates me!!!!):
My apologies for all of this! I am looking into it - will get back to you shortly.
Hi Georges, I replied to the wrong email, but basically I’ve been able to successfully build the local classroom environment so I’m going to step away from the Cloud for now. The message I tried to send to you was saying the server was either timing out or wasn’t available. That’s odd for the middle of the day, but for now I’ll move on with my local environment.
Thanks a lot for the update! I can confirm the cloud deployment issue is from our end. Our system administrators are looking into it - should be resolved soon - will keep you posted.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.
Good luck with the courses!
Hi Georges, I have the same issue. Course PI Vision: Beyond the Basics show:
Execution Timeout Expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding.
I hope you are well. The issue is from our end, our system administrators are looking into it - will keep you posted!
Sorry for the wait - the issue has just been resolved!
Please confirm on your end.
Tech Support was finally able to get the issue I was having the creating the local class environment, so I’m going to forego the virtual environment for now. Maybe for my next class I’ll see if I can get it going – for now I just need to dig into the class.
Thanks for your help and your time!!
Georges – finally found something might point to the problem, but I don’t know how to fix it. If I go to the settings of any of the HOU element attributes, click on the tag and specifically set it to the server I need to use, things work fine. But if I reset to template, I start getting the problem again.
Somehow the Press template is pinned to the wrong database and I don’t know how to change it. I can change each individual attribute, but then they’re not synched to the attribute templates. I don’t get this – makes no sense to me how I can get data when I display the attributes and they show data, but the analyses fail because they think the attributes used in the variables are somewhere else. Also makes no sense that I can generate the preview data with no problem but the backfill process fails.
Any ideas how to fix this? I really want to understand what’s going on here because this is likely to happen again since none of us will have pi admin and we’ll be relying on other people to create databases for us.
Just wanted to let you know I was able to work with someone from OSIsoft and got to the bottom of the problem. It turns out that our TEST server Analysis Services was configured to point to our Production archive. That’s not something I could have ever diagnosed since I don’t have any direct access to the servers or anything on them.
But we’re good to go now and I’m able to move forward with my class work.
Thanks for all your help and sorry to have needed so much of your time.
Thanks for the update! Are you now able to get your Press template to point to the right database?
Yes, but there is something else interesting going on. Everything is working fine on the first element but when I look at the other four to which the element template, and analysis template are applied, I get a gray exclamation on some of the attributes to which the variables have been mapped. The description is ‘system digital state’ and no other information. Those calculations fail. I googled it and found that others have experienced the same issue but the only solution offered is to upgrade the af client. Are you familiar with this issue?
See below – is it the version?
I do not see any version information even in the previous post. You can find the version information by navigating to programs and features on the machine where AF client is installed or in PI System Explorer (PSE) under help>about PI System Explorer.
Would you also please answer the following questions:
Strange – here’s what I posted in the last email I sent…I put my remarks in the body of your email:
Do you happen to have PI AF Client 2017 R2 or earlier? Using 2017 R2
Does your analysis contain functions such as Min(), Max()? No
Do you have any input to the analysis which is a non-PI Point data reference (for example, a Formula Data Reference) and has a System Digital State as its value (ex: No Data)? No
Do you mind sending me screenshots of your analysis so i can confirm a few things before we opt for the upgrade (you don't have to post it here, you can email them to me if they have proprietary information).
