I have recently had to request that our PI server be allocated more disk space (its a VM) because the size of the backup archive folder has got so large. To get away from this could I delete the oldest backup archives and rely on the server/VM backups performed by our IT group to recover them if needed. I would still allow the PI backup routine to back up the last 4 archives as per the standard bat file, but delete the oldest archives from this directory.
I appreciate I'm putting my faith into IT server backups, but I can't keep on requesting increases in disk space if we have full system backups which have everything I need anyway.
All thoughts/opinions/recommendations welcome!
