Email Notifications Manager not connecting to PI Server

Can connect to PI Server through SDK, but does not stay connected. Gives "no connection to pi server". Continuous ping works. Connecting as PI Trust under "piadmin". Tried connecting with pi server name as well as ip address. SDK version 1.4.0.416 and PI Server version 3.4.385.77. Gets "PI Server not responding. Configuration requires a valid PI Server" under "Configure Database" tab. Comes into PI Server as "piadE".
