The control room has a large monitor and I would like to cycle through 3-4 different displays. touch or clicking would stop and the user can drill down to more detail analysis. #PIVision display.
PI VIsion can be run in an I-Frame and it can be controlled when called by URL parameters which can select the display, the asset context, the time context and other features of the PI Vision display. You can explore these in the PI Vision System Admin manual. This would allow you to control the pattern of the switching etc.. programmatically in a simple web scripting language of your choice. You wouldn't need to become a PI Web API programmer as PI Vision would still handle data access and security, etc. However, if you wanted to become a PI Web API Programmer you could program some process conditions or look for conditions set in analysis (like presence of event frames) and switch to a selected display when there is a specific condition (like a startup or error condition, etc..) Note: this doesn't avoid security or licensing restrictions.
There is a short Knowledgebase article about this. Their suggestion (and one that works) is to open multiple tabs in Chrome with the different PI Vision pages and then use the Revolver extension to switch between tabs.
