PI Collective Upgrade - Installation / Validation Steps

Hi,

I'm planning a PI Collective upgrade and have had a few different opinions for the approach.

These are the steps I'm planning to follow, do these make sense?

I would have preferred to leave one server running, upgrade the other then failover, but because there will be a version mismatch its not recommended. Is this how you approach it? Would appreciate any advice.

Also I looked at the learning channel and couldn't find any videos pertaining to a collective upgrade, could be a great addition.

On the Primary PI Server change the firewall rule to “DISALLOW”

On the Secondary PI Server change the firewall rule to “DISALLOW”

Ensure data is being buffered at interfaces.

Upgrade in place the primary PI server

Installation Check

Operational Check

Change the Primary firewall rule to “Allow”

Verify that buffered data is processing.

Upgrade in place the Secondary PI server

Installation Check

Operational Check

Change the Secondary firewall rule to “Allow”

Verify that buffered data is processing and sync is working
