Community, We have recently observed  below error in some our Users PCs(post office 2019 upgrade) while trying to use PI datalink. If we click on yes excel crashes else clicking on NO disables the Add-In.

At present Office 2019 and datalink 2019 are being used. When I checked the registry settings, PI datalink add-in registry is deleted from HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Excel\Addins\PI DataLink. However it exists at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\Excel\Addins\PI DataLink .

Troubleshooted below steps:

  • Tried to remove the add-in from COM add-in list tried to add from Excel options but it is showing error like it is not valid Microsoft office add-in.
  • Tried to uninstall PI datalink 2019 and re installed but the registry keys are not created at HKCU root. Hence PI datalink add-in is not loaded again.

Is it recommended to create registry keys manually at HKCU root. Any suggestions or workaround steps would be helpful.
