I have a spreadsheet with a PISampDat call to PI that I need to convert to for a .Net application. Does anyone know where to find out how to do this? Any help will be appriciated.
PISampDat() is a DataLink function and as far as I am aware you won't be able to use within .Net
There are multiple options that I can think of for your custom application development such as PI SDK, AF SDK or PI OLEDB (Classic) Provider.
My personal recommendation is using AF SDK as the future proof data access method. You would need to install 'PI AF Developer Tools 2012' (available exclusively in vCampus Download Center). The package as well installs the documentation. Please lookup 'AFData.InterpolatedValuesAtTimes' in the AF SDK Reference manual (%PIHOME%\Help\AFSDK.chm). The manual also contains examples that should get you started.
Brandon, you might also consider using PI Web Services. In general, most of the same data access queries provided through PI DataLink functions are available through PI Web Services, since this was a design goal.
If you have SharePoint, Excel Services and PI DataLink Server available, there is actually another option. A perhaps lesser known/used feature is that Excel Services exposes web services through OData. This means that you can take your existing PI DataLink spreadsheet, upload it to SharePoint, and call it through a URL in your app or browser.
