A bit of a fun quiz for a Friday...
I managed to get future data into the PI Server snapshot, > 20 minutes into the future I might add. In fact about 8 hours into the future.
Q1. How did I do it?
Q2. What happens to the "current" data?
OK, I have almost zero chance of getting this right... but I will give it a try.
You set the interface time ahead by some time, I'm not sure what would happen, but maybe the snapshot would be off. If that does not work, how about setting the server and interface ahead? Q2 would still be the same, but just showing a time in the future.
Another thought is to play with the PI to PI interface, maybe set two PI servers with different time, not sure what would happen.
I'm sure I'm wrong here, but figured I would give it a guess. If you were to really get a future value, then the "current data" should would maybe have compression applied and maybe drop out?
Any additional hints?
I am assuming that the workarounds like using COM Connectors to get it from external sources are not considered to be valid answers.
Hint: Dr Samuel "Sam" Beckett.
(Lonnie pretty much has it.)
