I know that there is a Processbook tool to change tag name in Processbook display. Is there a tool to change several tag names in a Processbook display which will
I think there is no batch changing tool for the tag name in PI ProcessBook. However, actually, all the tools are developed via PI SDK / AF SDK. You could add the PI SDK / AF SDK into PI ProcessBook VBA reference to develop the new tool.
I already changed the old tag name via newtag attribute in Excel. After renaming the tag, I need to change the tag mapping in Processbook for the new tag name.
Since the first version 3 release ProcessBook is referencing tags by point ID rather than the tag name except PBTagResolution is explicitly set to 1 within procbook.ini
When just changing tag names, the point ID stays the same and hence your displays should point to the right tags. Changing the displays shouldn't be necessary. Have you checked that?
To my knowledge there is no tool that would allow to translate "old" tag names to "new" ones for ProcessBook displays. There's a "PI ProcessBook Support Tool" available at Technical Support Download Center (Product "ProcessBook", Type "Utilities", Version "Current Version") that allows to replace PI Server references.
The tool you are referring to will replace server names or tag names, but only in a manual way. You can give it a file with a list of displays to work on, but you must still search and replace the tag names one at a time.
I heard back in June that TechSupport were working on enhancing the tool to accept a csv list of old=>new tag names. Did that ever get started?
It's amazing how good you are informed. You must be listening very careful
Indeed some folks from Technical Support are working on a revised tool that will support bulk renames for PI tags, PI Servers, AF elements/attributes, and AF Servers. Even though development work is almost complete, there is no estimation for a release date yet.

I am listening verrrrrrry carefully muhahahahaha (evil laugh).
In all seriousness, we've asked for this functionality for some time too. I remember on one request for this we were told it was being developed by TechSupport.
