I am installing the CTP version of PI System Web API Core Services.msi. I am logged in as an administrator on my local system. I right click on the .msi file and choose [Run As Administrator]. During the setup I am asked to acknowledge that my usage date is being shared with OSIsoft - I accept. When it gets to the "Please wait while the Setup Wizard installs PI System Web API - Core Services CTP. -- Status: Starting services . . ." dialog I get a popup that indicates the following: Service 'PI Web API' (PIWebAPI) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services. [Retry] - [Cancel]. I have clicked [Retry] but am brought back to the same thing. I am able to stop and start other services at will. Does anyone in the community have some clues to what may be causing this failure?
For the record I have IIS enabled, I am running 64Bit Windows 8.1 on a laptop that hosts my development PI server and AF Server.
I kept at this and found the source of my troubles. I also have an Apache 2.4 server on this laptop - In services I stopped it. Then I returned to the error popup and clicked [Retry] and the application finished installing.
