Is there a way to convert a number to hexadecimal with in AF
What is your case for storing hex in AF instead of binary?
Using the formula DR you can do the math to resolve the individual hex digits, and then use the string builder DR to concatenate the digits.
or build a custom DR to do that for you...
I will give that a go.
There is a white paper called "Implementing custom AF 2.x Data References" under our vCampus library that will help you on your DR development.
Hope it helps!
Just dug out a caveay on my "using built-in functions only" approach. The Formula DR does not support string output values, so i first used the formula DR to split out the hexadecimal digits (decimal value between 0 and 15), and the table lookup DR to lookup the Hex string value for the digit, and the string concatenation in the string builder to join the digits.
However, if your number of digits is limited, you could just setup a large conversion table and convert this using a big table lookup containing all the hex values you need.
But thinking further, i normally consider this to be a function for the client that displays the value to the user. There it's normally most easy to convert a given number to any other numeral system required. Decimal is just the assumed preference.
