There seems to be a way in ProcessBook to sort by attributes, but can't seem to do it. Is this a security setting that I am missing?
I saw the behavior you mention recently in a Tech Support case. Essentially, you can make attribute columns available in the ERD plug-in to ProcessBook because it was built off of components from PSE. When you add elements to the Elements of Interest area (called EOI for purposes of this discussion), you can find the following menu drop down:
but the "Select Attributes..." item does nothing. This functionality has not been added to EOI, but there is a work around.
If you open PSE, select an element that has some child elements in the Browser, and select the Child Elements tab in the Viewer, then you will see the same menu available but "Select Attributes..." is functional:
Clicking it will show the Select Attributes gui where attribute columns can be added:
After selecting some attributes, you will note that the drop down menu in PSE has changed and includes two new options:
"Show Attribute Columns" allows the columns to be visible and "Attribute Columns" allows selection of which attribute columns should be visible. After selecting some columns to be visible, you will see something like:
Now if you go back to ProcessBook, you should see the same menus and attribute columns in the EOI:
Note that the elements are sorted by the values of the Diameter attribute.
Please let us know if this is what you are looking for.
Are you referring to the "Elements of Interest" pane in the "Element Relative Display" window? If so, then that does not browse to the attribute level. If you want to search or browse through attributes in ProcessBook, you will need to use the attribute search.
I am not sure we are talking about the same thing, but maybe. I am sure i have seen this donein the past- after you have selected your elements of interest, and have your display built, then I am pretty certain that there is a way to sort by attribute. Let's say you have 20 wells that you are interested in, and you want to sort them on the left by highest to lowest flow- isn't that possible by sorting by attribute?
The suggested solution works fine in my computer. However, the same pdi file does not display the attributes at Elements of Interest in other machines. There is no problem with the trend though. The attributes displayed at Elements of Interest seem to be dependent on local machine settings. How do I make them show up the same across any machine? Thanks in advance.
Ana Revert Tomas was able to point out that this may not be possible in the thread here: Processbook element of interest -Display of attributes
This is because you are changing the view settings in the PI System Explorer component of the client machine itself. These changes are not being saved as part of the ProcessBook display.
Thanks Brent! That's what I needed.
