Anyone here interface data from PI server to Labview server before?
The official recommendation from OSIsoft is as follows: for LabVIEW 8.0 and greater use OSIsoft's OPC DA Interface, for LabVIEW 7.x and less use OSIsoft's OPC DA Server. This information was taken from the interface search (http://intsearch.osisoft.com/interfaceSearch.aspx).
I have not tried that but through OPC DA you can interface both, as scenario is not much clear so I am requesting you to explain the scope.
Thanks Rocky and hpaul for the info.
My scope is to output data obtain from PI server and display it onto labview to analyse the data obtain over real time. Data are from wind turbine.
This thread on the community contains some great information on using LabView with the PI Server. Let us know what you think of the information here and whether or not it answers your questions:
If PI server and Labview Server are on different machine is it possible to output data from PI server to Labview?
Any recommendation to which version of OPC I should use if I want to output data from PI server to Labview 2011 ?
LabVIEW 2011 is more recent than version 8.0 so the OPC DA Interface is recommended. National Instruments has information on their website regarding LabVIEW and OPC specifications:
On that page, they indicate that LabVIEW 2011 supports versions 1.0, 2.x and 3.0 for the OPC DA specification. The PI OPC DA Interface version 188.8.131.52 supports the 1.0a, 2.0 and 2.05 OPC DA standards.
Just wondering , if i uses Matrikon OPC explorer am I able to output data from PI server to Labview server? or Excel to LAbview server
Output points can be configured with the OPC interface to write data from the PI Server to an OPC server. Please see the PI OPC DA Interface User Manual for more details. Chapter 10 contains all of the details regarding point configurations and there are even a few examples for output points on page 58 in the manual for version 184.108.40.206.
We have a new connectivity solution for LabVIEW. It is code that runs in LabVIEW and reads from and writes to PI.
