I am looking for AFSDK Library reference
I want to use as 'help' during .net application development
Can you help me?
As Alexandru pointed out, the AF SDK help files are now available for download in the Tech Support download center. The reason why AF SDK documentation was not included before was that AF SDK development used to be exclusive to vCampus members. Therefore, the programming references were separated from the AF SDK download, and were only available to subscribed members. Since our migration to PI Developers Club, the help files are opened for general download. For more information about PI Developers Club, please refer to PI Developers Club FAQ.
Once you have AF SDK installed, go to %PIHOME%\PIPC\HELP and check out the AF.chm file. Inside it, there's "AF SDK Library Reference" section.
Alternatively, AFSDK.CHM Help file is included in the AF Developer Tools download over at vCampus.
Can you suppy a working link to this location please? I've tried browsing the download site to no avail.
I did installed PI AF Client (af sdk was included in it) and after this I have only
So I was confused with this :(
and unfortunately I havent access to vCampus now
OK, it looks like AFSDK Library Reference is only part of AF.chm help file if you install AF Client 2014.
It is not included in previous versions.
In this case, you need to download and install AF Client 2014 or get access to vCampus.
I did reinstall AF Client 2014 and below what I have in AF.chm file (may be I overlooked something? )
Interesting. Let me track down the origin of my AF.chm file (it's not from AF Dev Tools - this installs AFSDK.chm file).
Perhaps it came from a beta version. I'll get back to you.
That said, you need vCampus access to develop AF/PI SDK applications anyway, so AF Developer Tools are your best bet on getting the AF SDK Library Reference.
The PI AF SDK reference manual comes with PI AF Developers Tools which could be downloaded from vCampus Download Center under PI Asset Framework category. The AF User Interface Library reference is also copied to the folder PIPC\Help after this product is installed. The AF.chm file is not really useful if you want to develop against PI AF SDK.
Another good way to learn is reading some hands-on labs about PI AF SDK from previous vCampus Live! events. Those pdf files are available also on vCampus Download Center under Extras category.
Finally, we provide a workshop about PI AF SDK development. This might be useful for you to learn fast the major functionalities of this library.
Hope this helps!
Can you supply a link to the AF developer's tools that works, please? I've browsed the download site and nothing matching this description is found.
I can not understand why you have to signup to VCampus in order to get PI AF Developer tools. For the time being Osisoft always have provided documentation for developers, like PISDK but AF-SDK? If I want to develop software for a mill, using AF without VCampus access, should I have to waste some time reviewing hands-on labs pdfs? It seems a good resource of information but It's not whe whole information...
If someone can explain this decision I'll be grateful.
For some time the AF SDK Library Reference was exclusively available to vCampus subscribers (not sure why)
Now it is available from the download center at:
Neither of those links works. The first returns the message: -
The file you selected is not available. A newer or updated version may be available.Go to the following link to search for your download: All Downloads.
...And the seconds returns the message: -No results found. You may not be licensed for this product, or this product may be bundled with other software. Visit My Products for licensing details.
I'm also looking for a copy of the AF SDK.... can anyone supply a working link?....
Try this link.
Alternatively, when you are on the Download Center, type in "PI AF Developer Tools" in the first search box. You should be able to download the Developer Tools which include code examples and programming reference for PI AF SDK and AF UI. I have verified that you have access for your SSO account. Please let me know if you run into any issues.
After download/install, you should find the PI AF SDK help file at %pihome%\help\afsdk.chm.
i think there is something wrong inside techsupport downloads.
just a few days ago i did download the afsdk.chm (programming referece only) and it did work.
today i also get a broken link. I think OSISoft should repair the link. not everyone wants to install the tools only to get the programming reference (some people migth not be allowed to install packages on the computer due to company or system restrictions).
All three links are still working.
If you are getting any error messages it is most likely because you do not have access to that download.
Can you PM me the email address that you used to log on to the Tech Support website and I can check this for you?
The PI AF SDK and AF UI Programming help files have been removed from the Tech Support download center. We are encouraging users to download the PI AF Developer Tools instead for the following reasons:
I will clarify these changes in a follow-up post in PI Developers Club.
If you have IT restrictions for running executables, you can download the Developers Tool, then unpack it using something like 7-zip and get the .CHM files. However, as you've seen the post from Daphne, there are very good reasons to have the Developers Tool setup kit rather than individual files. IMHO, the most important thing in the Developers Tool setup kit is the Intellisense. If you're reading the .CHM files, you're most likely developing apps and the Intellisense is extremely valuable for you.

I just downloaded PI AF Developer Tools from Techsupport!
here's the live-library link (so a web version of the .chm kinda)
