Like David and Eugene introduced, we have several great learning resources available:
You can watch videos on the OSIsoft Learning YouTube Channel- OSIsoftLearning - YouTube
You can take online classes hosted in our PI Square Community- Learn PI
You can take in person classes at our training centers- Learning Site
If you're new to the PI System, there are several videos I would recommend on OSIsoftLearning - YouTube that will help you become familiar with the architecture, use cases, and different products right away:
1. OSIsoft: Map Overview of the PI System - YouTube
2. What is the PI System - YouTube Playlist [pick the video corresponding to the job role(s) most relevant to you]
3. OSIsoft: Live Demo of Core PI System Products - YouTube
4. PI System Basics - YouTube Playlist- "Map of the PI System" & "What are PI Assets, PI Attributes and PI Tags?" videos
5. OSIsoft: What is PI ProcessBook - YouTube, OSIsoft: What is PI Coresight - YouTube, and OSIsoft: What is PI DataLink - YouTube [to learn about our main client tools]
6. PI System Basics - YouTube Playlist- "Time in the PI System" & "Connect to and Search a PI System"
These videos should help you get an overview of the PI System and the terminology used to describe it. From there, you can focus on playlists that are specific to client tools that you will be using or PI administration work and configuration you may be involved with depending on your role.
Hope that helps!
One of the best places to start your OSIsoft knowledge and training is to take a look through the OSIsoft youtube channel which you can find here: https://www.youtube.com/user/OSIsoftLearning
The information you can find here covers everything from the basics of the PI system to complex configurations. You can also find more ways to learn from here: Training Site
Hope this helps!
The course that I would recommend for starters is PI System Architecture, Planning, and Implementation. This was also the course that I started out with. You can find more information at the link below. Hope this helps!
thank you ..it will really help me..
You're welcome. Glad to hear!
So if you opt for v-campus subscription (individually or enterprise based), you can get access to virtual machines with many OSISoft loaded software modules for hands on learning experience.
Just to add on, after the migration to PI Square, the third link vcampus.osisoft.com now redirects to the PI Developers Club page. For the virtual machines, you can find more information here.
Also very good to find out what is possible with the PI System are the Presentations
And when you find time you should attend a users conference.
Yep! This year's users conference is just a few months away! It will be held on April 28 - May 1, 2015 in San Francisco, CA. For more information, you can check out the UC2015 website.
We just released updated videos on the Map Overview of the PI System and Live Demo of Core PI System Products to our YouTube Learning Channel, and I have updated the links above to the new versions!
Thanks so much for compiling the list of resources above. Do you know if the links are still the latest and greatest? If not, I'd really appreciate any updated versions if you have them. For example, I see that the videos above refer to 'PI Coresight' rather than 'PI Vision'.
Also, I was wondering if you might be able to recommend a presentation or video that specifically addresses the scalability of the PI System. I'm newly working at a small pharmaceutical CMO planning a substantial expansion of their current operations and thinking the time might be right to implement a plantwide historian. They have at least one equipment skid that includes a Wonderware Historian, but overall they have virtually no experience with data historians. They would want to start small and understand how the PI System could scale as their needs grow over time.
