You can definitely get to it from a remote machine.
When you go to other PI Web API URLs do you have any issues from the remote machine? Can you get get to https://<PIWebAPI>:444/piwebapi/search?
You can verify in Winows Event Viewer - Security that your making a Logon attempt. Depending on your configuration of PI Web API you may need to verify you are indeed using Kerberos authentication.
Where is PI Coresight, PI Web API, and PI Search crawler in relation to eachother? On the same machine?
If you haven't tried already, you could try clearing your browser cache, reopen the browser, and try again.
It was a schoolboy error I am afraid.
My account was not in the PI WebAPI Admins group. I forgot that the account I was running firefox under was not my normal admin account which is in the admin group, but a basic user.
I think that the documentation is a bit misleading by specifically saying that you should use myLocalMachine, when in fact it is just the hostname of the machine where webapi is hosted.
Thanks for your response though.
I should have went with my gut...my first response was the local group but I wasn't 100% sure it was necessary so I opted for other troubleshooting steps. Silly me, always go with your gut right.
I'm using my considerable awesomeness to get the developers to change the documentation in favor of something like PIWebAPIMachine in place of myLocalMachine...wish me luck
