Builders's Café Webinar Series: Programming with the PI AF SDK Rich Data Access

Video created by Ahmad Fattahi Employee on Jun 7, 2014

This is the recording for the vCampus-exclusive "Builders' Café" webinars titled "Programming with the PI AF SDK Rich Data Access", that was held on February 27th, 2013. The recently released PI AF SDK provides enhanced data access methods for both PI AF Attributes and PI Points. It also contains improvements for .NET based multithreaded applications that access PI System data.

With the latest release two namespaces were added to the PI AF SDK: OSIsoft.AF.Data and OSIsoft.AF.PI. The Data namespace provides the rich data access (RDA) functions similar to the PIData object in the PI SDK; however, it provides these functions at the level of PI AF Attributes. Data references such as Formula and Table Lookup have been extended to support these new RDA methods making it easier for developers to take a PI AF

Attribute centric approach when doing data access with the PI AF SDK. In this new release less memory is required for accessing time series data in addition to higher performance.

This webinar will familiarize the audience with the new objects in the PI AF SDK and provide tips for improving performance by using bulk methods whenever possible.

    Speakers:

Ryan Gilbert, PI AF SDK Software Developer
Steve Kwan , Product Manager for PI AF
Marcos Vainer Loeff, OSIsoft vCampus Team
