Building a simple query/view in AF server

I am new to PI AF. Right now all I am trying to create is a simple prototype of data we have in our AF server. Our AF server contains data from PI and a SQL server that identifies our tags and gives them some geographic context. We also have some hierarchies built. Now, I want to be able to create is a simple query (or view I can retrieve later) that pulls the geographic information plus the tags for that region, the timestamp, and the value of the tag. In other words something that in SQL Server would look like:

SELECT REGION, STATE, COUNTY, TAG_NAME, TIMESTAMP, VALUE

FROM MyTABLES

WHERE TIMESTAMP //I can give here a where clause to subset the data with the timestamp.

It would be a skinny view of the data, with all the identification and one column for the tag name, the timestamp, and the value.

So, my question, how can I build this? Is there an easy way to just create a view like in any other relation database and retrieve it later?
