You can stop backfilling analyses (recommended only in cases when it is necessary to do):
- Go to machine in which analyses are running i.e. AF Server (Analyses server in-case it is different then AF Server).
- Go to run
- Type %programdata%
- Go to OSIsoft > PIAnalysisNotifications
- Stop PI Analyses Service
- You will find file with name "RecalculationProcessor.RequestedRecalculations"
- Edit it in notepad
- I don't have analyses running now
In notepad file just leave following lines as it is and delete all other if you want to cancel all running backfilling operation:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
If you want to delete specific backfilling then find that element and delete its operation.
Do this opeation under observation if you are just starting with xml syntaxes and AF.
After these, start your AF Analyses service.

Cancelling backfilling operations individually can be done by right-clicking the analysis from the Analysis Tab on the Element. Selecting "Backfill/Recalculate Status". Check the backfill request/operation and click the "Cancel Checked Requests"
Took me a while to notice this seemingly obvious ability since I don't typically go to this status window since you can see the backfilling status by simply hovering the mouse pointer of the backfill progress bar.
I agree - it is not in a very obvious place. I think we should be able to stop backfilling from the management tab.
