PI BASE subsystem is stopping continuously
8/24/2017 1:35:13 PM, 6043, Critical, Fatal error in PI subsystem pibasess: Failed to load PI configuration database, status: [-15000] std::istream::get Failed, pibasess, , , , , , , , , , ,
This error is generic and is not necessarily specific to PI Base subsystem. Are you aware of any ungraceful shutdown recently (on the service or the hardware)? This is likely to be a corruption of data or configuration files. One assumption is that pipoints.dat file is corrupted and needs to be recover.
Please contact OSIsoft TechSupport in order to pinpoint the exact root cause, and help you fix it
Many thanks for getting back, yes there is a shutdown previous day and all services didnt pick up from there..i have started them manually but the base subsystem is stopping continuously.
So any basic workaround can be found or better to go for OSI call?
Ok so it is confirmed that you have some corrupted files in PI\dat folder.
I see two options:
1) you can use a recent backup (typically you have PI\dat folder before the ungraceful shutdown)
2) you don't have a backup -> you need to recover the corrupted file(s). In that case we first need to identify the corrupted file(s), which is most probably pipoints.dat but let's confirm that. I'd rather not share a workaround in a public page, simply because recovering from any corruption is potentially complex, and, like I said, the workaround depends on the corrupted file which we do not know yet. If you can, please call or email Techsupport, an engineer will be able to assist you
