I am sharing you all a screenshot regarding an issue for PI Data Link Installation. I did even try by making my McAfee turn off, but the issue could not be solved anyhow. Please resolve.
Are you running it as administrator?
Yes exactly I am, does it have anything to do with the Microsoft Excel version as I am concerned with the Excel Add-ins?
It would be good to have the install log. If you don't want to post it here, you might need to open a support ticket. It could be Excel as well, what version of Excel are we talking about?
I'll see if I can post the install log here, will do it asap. I am using Office 360 as of now.
Just in case, PI Datalink is not currently supported on Office 365.
Good point Jaime. I assumed Apurva meant that he had Excel 2016, but I should have asked.
Hi Chris and Jaime,
Yes I am using the office 365. Is there any other way I can use the PI data link instead of downgrading to another excel version.
The only thing that comes at my mind is the PI Datalink Server, but I don't really know what is the status of the future of this product from the OSIsoft perspective. I can also recommend you to evaluate PI Vision. Most of the data usage can be tackled with the current version of PI Vision and a good AF/EF structure.
I want to refer you the following KB article that details Datalink's compatibility with Excel version

While Office 365 Click-to-Run is not explicitly written, it does support Datalink 2015.

Can you please post a screenshot of Excel versioning on this post? You can get this from File>Account
That error that you are seeing is stating that your account does not have permissions to create registry keys. Even if you run as administrator, your company's domain policy restrict access to the registry.
Finally another workaround is to extract the install kit and run the components one after the other. The order of which is described in the setup.ini file (part of the extraction)
