How can we send notification when an Event frame ends. Want to include the duration of Event frame as well in the notification.
There's no current way of sending a Notification only at end time. We have this enhancement request on our feedback website:
Send Notification Alert only on Close – Customer Feedback for OSIsoft & the PI System
You can however, configure a Notification to send an email at both Start Time and End Time. You can manipulate the configuration to have different content in the message, see my response in this PI Square post:
how do I set the message for Closed Notification in PI Notifications
For the duration, if you are running version 2017 or newer, you can retrieve the duration via a substitution parameter (this was an old enhancement request: Support event frame duration as a substitution parameter – Customer Feedback for OSIsoft & the PI System )
In older versions, you can use this workaround suggested by Roger Palmen: Event Frame duration - easy way in AF2.6 or higher
Hope this helps,
I configured Event Frame to send Notification When Event Starts and Ends.
I have problem , the notification is not been send when the event frame ends.
what could be wrong here ?
The configuration seems to be ok here. If you navigate to one of the Event Frames (PI System Explorer > Event Frames > Search ....), you should see an annotation. If you right click on the EF, select Annotate, you should see some annotations from the PI Notification Service. Do you see one for a send when the EF was closed?
This is what I see at the annotations.
Another event is in progress now and the annotation shows notification sent to subscribers at the beginning of downtime. I will wait for the event to end and see if the notification is send out.
If it doesn't send out, there may be more information in the logs for PI Notifications. The logs are located in %programdata%OSIsoft\Notifications\Logs.
If there isn't any messages there, the next step would be to change the debug level for the PI Notification service to trace all activity. I would recommend calling into support to do that if it is needed.
Many Thanks Seb.
