What is the best way to shutdown a PiVision + AF server ? It is running Pi Vision, AF 2017, SQL Server 2014 Standard Edition, and W2K12R2.
Has anyone automated this?
May I ask why you would need to shutdown PI VIsion and PI AF Server?
To shut down PI Vision, you can use iisstop/iisstart to stop and start the web server that hosts PI Vision.
To shut down PI AF Server, you can stop the PI AF Application Service or PI AF Server using net stop AFService.exe (may vary by version).
To shut down SQL Server, you can stop the MS SQL Server service using net stop MSSQLSERVER.
To automate all of this, I would suggest using a bat script to combine all of these commands.
I want to stop the services while I patch. I am assuming the correct order would be AF, IIS, then SQL Server.
The order is not really consequential as long as the services are shutting down gracefully. If I had to recommend something to someone I would say Vision -> AF -> SQL.
