Is any difference between PI AF analytics equation and PI Performance equation?
Purpose of AF Analytics and PE is same but PE being a legacy thing having it's own restriction whereas AF Analytics is advance way of doing the calculation in much smarter way
You can refer the following video's to find out difference -
PE - OSIsoft: Introduction to PI Performance equations (PE). v3.4.375 - YouTube
AF Analytics - OSIsoft: How to Setup Expression Analyses with PI AF [PI AF 2014- v220.127.116.1143] - YouTube
To add on to Siddhartha J's response, AF Analytics is a complete replacement for PI Performance Equations that is more scalable, higher performance and easier to use. It has almost every feature that PI Performance Equations has, as well as much better support for designing, testing, deploying and backfilling your equations. Unless you have a specific need that is not currently available in AF Analytics (e.g. the ARMA function which is not yet included in Asset Analytics), you should generally use AF Analytics for any new equations. For more information, you can see a comparison of options for calculations in KB00868.
PE is in general worse than in Asset Analytics in every aspects. Most notably, it cannot perform calculations in subsecond range and cannot be scaled as AF template provides.
