hello, I would like to delete a specific source point and not all unused points source.
I don't think you can delete a specific unused point source. This procedure (https://techsupport.osisoft.com/Troubleshooting/KB/KB01008) will delete all unused point sources.
Thank you Steve
It is not possible to edit or remove entries from the PointSource table for individual entries. This is done as a protection so that a PointSource with potentially tens of thousands of tags associated with it is not accidentally deleted, causing major data collection issues. As you mentioned, however, you can use the PointDB_RemoveEmptySource tuning parameter to remove point sources which have no tags associated with them. This tuning parameter can be added in SMT -> Operation -> Tuning Parameters or using PICONFIG.
Note that if you use this tuning parameter you will need to restart PI Base Subsystem for it to take effect.
This being said, why are you interested in deleting the pointsources? Having extra entries in the table incurs no additional performance impact or resource usage.
Hope this helps,
- Adam Fink
Thank you for explanation
I'd like to directly delete the source point because the source point is unused and thus remove all PI points from that source at once.
You can use PI Builder add-in to Microsoft Excel, retrieve all Points with a certain point source and delete them. Please see the picture below on how to search points by its pointsource attribute.
To be able to delete, the allow delete option must be enabled.
