Why do i get "Under Range" on negative value with modbus signed integer tag?

I have set up a data type "104", signed integer, function code 4, and have an issue in PI Datalink for Excel. If the tag value is negative, I get "Under Range" back as a value in Excel. What am I doing wrong?
