Had had some incidents of users "acidentially" (because how else can it happen) delete displays.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to either recover deleted displays or back them up so they can be restored later?
All displays are stored in Vision's back-end SQL database. Backing up and restoring older versions of that database can be a mechanism to recover deleted displays. However, note this will be system wide so if you restore a backup you will lose any work that took place after the backup was created.
A good (and more versatile approach) could be this enhancement request: Allow the PI Vision Display Utility to export the configuration to a file and import from a file – Customer Feedback for…

Fair enough but we can dream can't we?
Along these lines, I suppose you could also just use the utility to copy ("backup") displays to another SQL database, which would only serve as a backup database.
This might be a little more flexible in terms of not needing to backup/restore the entire database to recover just a few deleted displays, but of course the downside is the need to have a whole other SQL database hosted and online just for backups.
Looks like there are plenty of votes for this enhancement, so hopefully it goes through!
