I am wondering if I can take data that is currently stored in an excel spreadsheet and have that spreadsheet upload the data to a PI point on the PI server?
Please refer to 1501OSI8 - How do you send or write data to the PI Server from an Excel Spreadsheet
The PI DataLink Example spreadsheet PIEXAM32.XLS and PISAMPUT.XLM installed with PI DataLink to the \PIPC\Excel\ directory can be used to write values to PI.
We wrote a PI interface-type program that reads data from Excel spreadsheets and writes it to PI tags.
Your alternative is to use VBA code in the spreadsheet as Thyagarajan Ramachandran mentioned, but that requires opening the spreadsheet so the code can execute.
If you are looking to automate the process, you also have the option of using PI UFL Connector/PI UFL Interface.

Great, thank you for the help. I will check into to both of these.
Thank you for the replies.

Please open piexam32.xls available on %PIHOME%/Excel. After, go to VBA by Alt+F11, then you will see the 'PutVal_code' module.
