I'm still learning how this PI Notification works (also the whole PI System to be honest), and i found this error when i try to test sending an email, im using windows as my authetication option. Thank you and im sorry for my bad english.
Step 1: Check if required telnet port is working for SMTP from your local server or machine.
Powershell : Test-NetConnection -computername smtp.gmail.com -Port 587
Result : TcpTestSucceeded : True (In case of false, then port is not listening or some restriction on the firewall)
Step 2: If you are still facing problem even if port 25 specified in the screen shot is not working, then would suggest changing it to port 587 and try test gain.
Step 3: PI Notifications logs located in %ProgramData%\OSIsoft\PINotifications\Logs\pinotifications-log.txt
Hi Mr. Lal Babu Shaik thank you for the respond
Here is the result after i ran the code on power shell
and here is when i change the port to 587 and test it, and i still use windows as my authentication option
Please use below command in the powershell as is. In your screen shot -computername is the argument and do not use IP Address of your machine.
Test-NetConnection -computername smtp.gmail.com -Port 587
Please check in the highlighted section.
Select Basic and key-in user id and password .

Im sorry Mr. Shaik my mistake haha
In Authentication Options, what user id and password should i use? is it the local windows account?
Account you are using should have access for using google smtp service. For testing, you can try using your personnel account and later change depending on your requirement. Also request not to post IP address details.
I keyed-in my local windows username and password that i currently logged in, and this error appeared.
I believe you need a google account to use their mail server. You would need to use basic authentication and specify your google account credentials.
Are you an admin on your AF Server? It seems like you are also running into a permissions issue.
I'm sorry for the late reply, i'm using the basic authetication as you said and this error appeard now.
Can you ping google's SMTP server from this node?
